Animal Adoption Center

About this project

General overview:

The Animal Adoption Center located in downtown Jackson, Wyoming is a non-profit animal rescue dedicated to saving the lives of homeless cats and dogs through rescue, adoption, community outreach and spay/neuter programs. The AAC opened the doors to its new state-of-the-art facility on May 26, 2015. Proudly built by OSM, all of the materials and labor that went into this facility were either steeply discounted or donated by OSM, subcontractors, or suppliers to benefit this worthy cause. On the main level, the facility houses a colony of adoptable cats and kittens in Kitty City and Dog Town contains seven kennels for its canine residents. The building has a comfortable lobby area and office space as well as a private office, kitchen, and utility area. Upstairs are additional offices, a cat quarantine room, and spacious storage rooms. On the back of the property, there are two dog runs and a garage.

What makes it special

The Animal Adoption Center is what happens when the design is not compromised in a purpose-built facility. The architect, clients, and OSM worked closely together to design the facility to be aesthetically appealing while also sourcing durable and non-porous materials that would be able to withstand the heavy visitor traffic and animal use, as well as being able to withstand disinfectant solutions.
